Meeting 11 - Cross Way Church, Memphis, TN
Because we couldn’t get permits to be in a park in Memphis, Cross Way Church graciously opened their doors for us to gather. Cross Way is located in a suburb just outside Memphis we felt this very prophetic as well.
Ray Hughes had originally agreed to meet us in Memphis, but when he looked at his schedule, he was already slated to be somewhere else.
The breakthrough came that evening as we sang his song “The Heavens are Open” a cappella - we must have sang this song 10-15 minutes - and the anointing just keep getting stronger. We changed the chorus from thousands and thousands to millions and millions.
Blessing and honor
Glory and power
To Him who sits on the throne
Four living creatures
Twenty-four elders
Millions and millions come on
Singing Holy, Holy, Holy is the Lamb
This song did open the heavens that evening, and Ray Hughes, who had a heart to come to Memphis, did come - just not in the way we expected.
That shouldn’t be a surprise to us now, should it?
We feel we will be back in Memphis very soon to help open the portals there.
Day 5 - May 15, 2009
Meeting 12 - Road on the Levee, Hickman, KY
We made a brief stop to worship at the border between Kentucky, Missouri, and Arkansas at Hickman.
Meeting 12 - Columbus-Belmont Park, Columbus, KY
We were blessed by the many from Kentucky who gathered with under a beautiful pavilion overlooking the Mississippi River. A wedding was taking place on a hill just across the way. I wonder what they thought of us.
This was another very strategic spot, we had not known at this site, the South had stretched a mile long chain across the Mississippi to keep Union forces from shipping provision to their troops.
This was the first place we discovered we could turn the red bowls over and use them as drums. The worship was tremendous at his site.
A Holy Hush fell on us that afternoon.
We ascended in worship and descended in War!
“Release your voice. Oh God, voices of the children singing to their fathers. Let us hear their sounds. Crying Mercy, Holy God, have mercy, mercy on our fathers, grandparents, and mommies. Forgiveness covers it all – cry – repentance for that. No shame or guilt. My blood is sufficient. Release the blood of Jesus over the head over Leviathan and Jezebel.”
The men sang out, “We call the captives out from the belly of the beast.” The women sang also, “We call off the grave clothes of death. Mercy touch us all and let restoration come.”
Meeting 13 - St. Mary’s Pavilion, Cairo, IL
We met at St. Mary’s Pavilion, which we renamed the “Tent of Meeting.”
The breakthrough came as Kansas team member Anne Crane released a burden she had been carrying for 2 1/2 years concerning repentance to African-Americans.
The Lord is so gracious in my continuing education. When Anne first shared with me what she wanted to do I thought to myself, not another one of these, but I could see that she was burdened, and I try to give team members freedom to release their heart because you just never know. Well…
This was a divine moment orchestrated by a Holy God who knows exactly how deep wounds run and who knows exactly how to execute justice in the earth.
God had prepared a young black prophet from Cairo named Zachariah and his pregnant wife for this Holy moment. After a season of deep, honest, travailing repentance, a sword was handed to Zachariah to cut off some things from the heart of America, and cut he did! He also released prophetic decrees, declarations, and proclamations.
II love prayer journeys because of the continuous wonder of the divine orchestration of a Holy God perfect in position and timing.
I didn’t receive an offering that evening because other than team members present were a house prayer team who had prepared a tremendous meal for the team, and a few who appeared to be very poor, and I don’t know I just didn’t get a release to receive one.
However, as we were leaving Zachariah caught up with me pulled a hundred dollar bill out of his wallet and said he had prepared an offering for this journey. I knew this was a sacrificial offering, and I was deeply moved. I had a great sense this final act of the evening was dealing a deathblow to poverty in the region.
