Forty Days of Light
Through the years, I have participated in several strategic prayer initiatives in Washington DC. In September 2008, while on one such assignment, our team met in Philadelphia, the foundational city of government in our nation. We met there and prayed, and then journeyed to the city of Washington DC. It was a momentous occasion indeed; the day after our journey ended, Lehman Brothers fell. We never fully realize all that Father does on a prayer journey or strategic assignment, our responsibility is to simply be obedient to what He shows us to do.
Another significant moment in Washington DC was in March 2010, as I joined prayer leaders from around the nation. On that assignment, I heard very clearly within me, “This city needs a siege laid to it.” The next words I heard after this were from a man standing next to me, who turned and said to me, “This city needs a siege laid to it.” Not that there haven’t been many faithful people praying and intercessory assignments successfully executed in the city, I am fully confident there have been. As a matter of fact, each step of obedience leads to another, and leads to the unfolding of Father’s heart and the advancement of the Kingdom in the earth. That brings us to the name “DC40” or “40 Days Over DC”. They are one and the same.
When I first received revelation concerning this forty day assignment, I had no intention of staying away from home for any longer than that. However, while ministering in Vincennes, IN, earlier this year, the worship leader began singing, “This is the year we return to Philadelphia.” As he sang those words, the Spirit of the Lord washed over my being, and I knew that He was saying to me, “This is the year you return to Philadelphia in prayer.”
As I pondered what was happening within me, and because 11-11-11 was the date when the DC40 initiative was to be completed, it began to arise within me that there needed to be eleven days of prayer in Philadelphia. When I looked at the calendar, that brought the entire journey to fifty-one days, ending on 11-22-11. Isaiah 22:22 is one of the foundational scriptures that we have been moving in, and in Revelation chapter 3, when the Lord speaks to Philadelphia, He talks about laying the Key of David on the shoulders of that city - the same key Isaiah 22:22 speaks about. That is why DC40 (or 40 Days over DC) has turned into fifty-one days.
As I was counseling with a young leader in Washington DC, he had just taken part in a fifty-one hour prayer assignment - one hour for each state, and one for the District of Christ. Our assignment was to move from fifty-one hours to fifty-one days - each state (and the District) fasting and praying for the healing, deliverance, awakening, and reformation of our nation.
Purpose of Assignment
Our assignment was to lay siege to Washington DC in the spiritual realm, releasing the light and power of eternal truth in the capital of our nation, thereby dismantling structures of darkness that have governed there according to 2 Corinthians 10:4-5:
For the weapons of our warfare are not physical [weapons of flesh and blood], but they are mighty before God for the overthrow and destruction of strongholds, [Inasmuch as we] refute arguments and theories and reasonings and every proud and lofty thing that sets itself up against the [true] knowledge of God; and we lead every thought and purpose away captive into the obedience of Christ (the Messiah, the Anointed One)…(AMP)
Changing the Sound of a Nation - All Culture is Language
America has a sound, and another dimension of our assignment was to change the sound over the nation during these fifty-one days through worship.
The prophets had been saying that by Yom Kippur, we were not just entering a new season in the earth, but a new era! To us, that meant that as we entered into a new era, the sounds of the old era would need to shift in order for us to properly align as a nation with the purposes of God for this dispensation. How were we supposed to do that? We didn’t know, but the Lord was about to teach us!
Synergy of Intercessions
The strength of this movement of intercession was the honor and linking of our prayers with every other blood-bought intercession that has ever been presented to the Ruler of the Universe on behalf of the eternal destiny of these United States of America, as well as the union of intercessory networks releasing the power of eternal light and blessing as one for fifty-one days. These intercessory networks include:

The Gatepost

Anacostia
The Gatepost is a ministry overseen by Pastor Terri Mullen, a powerful woman of God, and her two daughters, Sherrita and Jenelle. The focus of their ministry is inner city children.
It is amazing just to watch the Lord orchestrate assignments. When we sent word to the churches and prayer houses in the DC area that we needed a place to worship for forty days, we didn’t get any response. However, while on the phone with Terri Mullen, somehow our conversation led to us worshipping for forty days at the Gatepost.
Terri felt it was an answer to prayer for us to be housed there (the inner city children that Terri and her daughters minister to have spent many nights crying out all night for the Lord to visit their city), and housed we were - not only did we worship there, but we slept on the third floor on air-mattresses and showered in the basement.
The Lord had provided the perfect facility for us. (We didn’t know where the funds would come from for us to stay in DC for forty days, it is a very expensive city, but again the Lord made way.) What we would discover later was that in January 2003, Cindy Jacobs, John Benefiel, Jay Swallow, and Negiel Bigpond had held a strategic gathering in that very building!
The all-wise God is perfect in everything - He who knows all things has a dream for Anacostia, as He does for all regions of the earth! In the District of Christ, however, Anacostia is the key to unlocking the treasures of the region. The name Anacostia means “Marketplace” - it has always been a gathering place where tribes would trade their treasures with one another. Anacostia has a reputation of being very violent, and many are afraid to come there. If the enemy has God’s treasure protected by fear so that everyone is afraid enter that area, what is there that he doesn’t want anyone to discover?
We have found through the years that in every community or city there is a high place or place of affluence and low place. We have also learned that the key to unlocking the glory of the high place lies in the low place. When those who live in the high place humble themselves and lift up the arms and support those who reside in the low place, the glory of both places is released.
We experienced the violence of Anacostia our first week. We had the windows of three vehicles broken out and a GPS stolen. It was also very hard to adjust to sleeping in the “hood” because of the constant sound of sirens from the ambulances - we heard a siren every ten minutes or so. However, by the end of our journey the sounds of sirens had decreased immensely.
Bethlehem Stable
We came to realize that where the Lord had so graciously placed us was, in essence, a Bethlehem stable; it was a place where a precious glory was resting. There weren’t a lot of people invited to the birth of the Savior, and it was very interesting to see who had ears to hear the call to come and worship in Anacostia.
The Orphan Spirit
In preparing for the forty days in DC, Pastor Terri felt that we needed to visit a high place that over looked the city from Anacostia. She took us to the former grounds of St. Elizabeth’s Mental Institution - the grounds have been purchased by Homeland Security and the National Guard for their headquarters, and massive buildings are being constructed on the property.
They plan to house the headquarters of Homeland Security in the restored mental institution - the same building where thousands of poor souls were tormented and suffered from demonic oppression and possession. Do you think without the cleansing of the land the future employees might have some issues?
Ten of us gathered to pray there, and this brilliant intercessor explained to us that because some of the land for DC had been given by Maryland and some by Virginia, there has always been an orphan spirit on the District - a sense of not belonging. I could go much more in depth here as to why that is true, but for the sake of time, trust me that this orphan spirit has been the prevailing spirit over the city, and I have had it confirmed to me by many who live there.
The Wind of Father’s Love
While we were standing on top of that hill after the intercessor released the revelation about the orphan spirit, the Lord spoke to my heart and said to release the wind of Father’s Love over the city. I asked Pastor Steve Eun, who has pastored in the city for many years, if he would release this wind of Father’s Love. When he said, “Heavenly Father...” a wind began to blow like I have never experienced before in my life; it was gentle yet strong. The wind had substance in it - it felt like it had concrete in it or something similar to that. The whole group looked at each other, and our guide’s eyes were big as half dollars. The wind of Father’s Love had been loosed over the District of Christ.
The Tip of the Spear
We were the tip of the spear of an intercessory assignment that had a long shaft of the power of unified networks releasing eternal light in the the capital of these United States and indeed there was a united ecclesia releasing the blood-covered light of eternal decrees over our nation.
We received reports that Northern Lights were being seen further south than had ever been recorded, these sightings begin at the same time as our journey began. Also the “Occupy” movements through out the nation began during this same frame in time.
The Pagans
In order to rally praying people we built a website, www.dc40.net, and announced our intent lay siege to DC, along with our intent during the pagan high holy days to have intercessors gather in every capital city in our nation and through repentance and prayer break the demonic power the Queen of Heaven had been exerting over our nation. The pagans somehow got wind of it and went ballistic. All over the internet there were pagan blogs addressing the DC40 Prayer War, and confirming everything we had been saying about Columbia being the goddess they worshipped and was the demonic entity ruling the atmosphere over DC.
We are so grateful to the Lord for exposing the pagans and their strategies to us. Our assignment was to release light into darkness, so He just had them all raise up against us so we could just send the eternal light of His love and truth right into the nest.
One precious witch strongly encouraged them to all download the fifty-one day prayer guide and read it into mirrors, in order that they might reverse what we were doing. Bless the Lord! He is great in mercy and His love endures forever. They were reading the eternal word of the Living God that never returns void! We could never have devised such a brilliant strategy!
We got wind that the pagans had secured a permit for eight-hundred to a thousand people to gather at Lafayette Park across from the White House to protest DC40. They were going to meet on Sunday, October 30. We gathered late in the evening on Monday, October 24, at the park and asked God to dispel the darkness with the light of His love as we worshipped Him and took communion on the grounds. On the following Sunday, we counted eighteen pagans total who arrived for the protest. Praise the Living God!
Anointed Vessels
We invited the following anointed vessels - each had a glory and revelation to release into the saints who serve the Kingdom in DC.
Jim and Faith Chosa shared the Mason Lid Initiative with us and shared with us the principle of reverse engineering demonic designs. Released intercessions in the eternals.
David and Becky Van Koevering released and taught the principles of eternal sound and light in the quantum dimension.
Dr. Patti Amsden taught on portals - opening portals, and maintaining opened portals from a Biblical perspective.
Dr. Marlene McMillan wrote our fifty-one day prayer directive, and taught on healing a nation through prayer.
Dr. John Benefiel divorced Baal and released angelic assistance.
The Fifty-One Day Prayer Directive
The fifty-one day prayer directive is a gift from God to our nation in this hour. Dr. Marlene McMillan has been prepared by the Living God to release understanding of true liberty - what it is and what it isn’t! She is a gifted teacher who understands liberty and tyranny, and is anointed by God to release the truth of these eternal principles in such a way that people understand it.
The prayer directive identifies the external problem, exposes the internal problem, gives the scriptural foundation for the points of repentance, leads in repentance, and releases the prophetic decrees, declarations, and proclamations for eternal change in our nation. The Planting of the Lord
One of the great surprises of the journey was singing over the children of Anacostia, and releasing the meaning of their names. This became one of the sweetest moments of the journey. The very first night we were in the city, we were surround by these wonderful children, and the Lord said to tell them what their names meant - what a glorious moment!
These are the eternal souls the Living God has planted in that city. If they grow up to walk in the fulness of their names, what a glorious city that will be! I strongly encourage you to find the meaning of the names of the people within your spheres of influence and sing over them.

Singing Over the States
Acts 17:26 And He made from one [common origin, one source, one blood] all nations of men to settle on the face of the earth, having definitely determined [their] allotted periods of time and the fixed boundaries of their habitation (their settlements, lands, and abodes)...
The Lord has positioned people in each region of the nation during these allotted periods of time and the fixed boundaries of their habitation (their settlements, lands, and abodes); each group of people has a great and special grace from their region to lock and unlock things over our nation.
As each state took its position of fasting and prayer and would nightly report what they had experienced during that twenty-four hour period, night after night the power increased. Early on, we began to have each state sing over the others; sometimes it even occurred on the phone call - it was glorious!
I know of one intercessor that has one hundred and eighty-five songs the Lord gave her as she sang over each state. Each state and the characteristics of the people within those states are so unique, and when each part of the body is fitly joined together, my, my, my... The beauty of the power of a united nation is wonderful to behold as we experienced it just within our prayer networks.
New Jersey is the Watchman State, and they were on the call faithfully night after night. Near the end of the journey, I received a call from New Jersey - they were very concerned because they sensed (what we sensed on the call as well) that one of the states hadn’t been tracking along with us, and it was quite obvious. We began to intercede, and it was wonderful to see the Watchman State in its position, watching over the nation.
Holy, Holy, Holy
We continually stood in awe at the orchestration of the Lord. He moved in such simplicity and beauty. We were truly blessed as worship teams from throughout the nation came to worship with us in Washington, District of Christ.
As you would expect, each team came prepared with songs they intended to release during their time with us. Some did release some of the songs they had prepared.
However, it seemed like the Lord wasn’t interested in all the words and many songs. He just needed one word - Holy!
Time and time again we would say to the worship teams, “We know that you have come with many songs and we are thankful for your preparation, but let’s start here...”
We would just begin to sing holy! It was all He needed and all we needed - we were caught up in holy! Other songs would flow from that wonderful place as we would just sing what we saw in our hearts next.
You could never tell where the next phrase would come from, or which person in the gathering might release it.
Two scriptures speak of such a place and such a movement:
Ephesians 5:19 – Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord...
Colossians 3:16 – Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord...
We believe that we have entered into the Great Awakening that will never end until the return of the Lord. We are crossing over into the era of holy on earth as it is in heaven.The angels in heaven are singing holy, the redeemed on earth resound holy, and the two become one.
That is the tsunami of light and revelation to awaken that is sweeping across the land.
It was amazing to watch the change in the worshippers and worship teams as we abode in the simple sound of holy! If the angels are singing holy, holy, holy night and day, the One on the throne just might like it! The portal that sound opens between heaven and earth - mm, mm, mm.
Isaiah 22:15-25 - Shebna & Eliakim
As the DC40 initiative grew to 51 Days of Fire, we became aware that Isaiah 22:15-25 was the hour we were stepping into. Please read those verses and join us as we as one release blood-covered light into each caucus and primary though our intercession. We will have a prayer call on the eve of each caucus and primary as we stand as one for the elections in each state. What happens in Iowa, New Hampshire, South Carolina, Florida, etc. effects us all.
United we stand, divided we fall.
Jericho Movement
Pastor Steve Eun has held in his heart for years a vision of churches in DC praying together. Our heart was to leave DC stronger in intercession by releasing the full power of DC40 functioning in the city after our team had left.
We were so grateful for Pastor Steve Eun, Dr. Corinthia Boone, and the many anointed pastors in DC and Philadelphia who were such a support to us.
We were grateful that Apostle Laura Jameson committed to joining the Jericho Movement, as did Bishop Clyde Jones and our Spanish brothers who connected with Dr. Caicedo. The Jericho Movement was strengthened by at least three, and we believe it will be strengthened by many more in the near future.
